When we say “if it’s genuine,” are we looking at whether someone regularly wears dresses, is not straight, has a certain identity or gender expression, etc.? I think it’s OK for a straight guy who wouldn’t ever wear a dress again to give a try. It still shows that it’s okay, and people can try it out. I don’t think you have to be Harry and potentially bi and androgynous to break stereotypes.

It reminds me of how back in 2005 I’d hear people downplaying Paris Hilton’s charity donations as insincere. Regardless of her sincerity or potential lack thereof, aren’t the charities still getting the money?

Posty isn’t claiming anything about his gender expression or identity here. It’s a picture of him in a dress and not acting like that’s wrong for a man to try out or enjoy. I like it!

I  mean, I get your point, and I guess I kind of agree. At the end of the day the goal is to normalize people expressing themselves however they see fit, and I  respect that.

I  just worry sometimes that the LGBTQ+ community is becoming a trend for some media attention, and I hope that's not the case. I  guess I'm just skeptical

I don’t think a man has to be LGBTQ to wear dresses or crop tops (Johnny Depp, Ross Lynch, etc. have also rocked the latter). Culture changes. It’s all been done before!: https://www.bustle.com/style/were-dresses-made-for-men-skirts

I say this as a bi person who has primarily been with the same s3x. I don’t think we should try to own this, and I suspect that feeling like we do own this only works to “other” people who don’t align with our expectations. Eventually, we just have to let people do what they want to do and not claim exclusivity.
