Uh, as of this week Rihanna is a billionaire so  So WTF is this Taylor fan twitter page spewing?  Or is Rihanna no longer considered a musician since we've been waiting for R9 since last decade?

Taylor charges The same as Madonna, plus a songwriter, and record breaking deals.

 

The thing with Britney is most of her hits are not written by her, and when she does write minus Everytime which is 50/50.

 

There is 6 to 9 additional writers, rolling stone noted Freakshow took 8 people to write , so Britney's portion could be small compared to the others, plus her percentage points of cd sales as Left eye mentioned, that's divided by the label/distributor/ songwriters/producers then the artist. So for 100 points, her end of album sales profits could be 10 to 15%, plus taxes for Hollywood is like 68 to 78% bracket, as her income is wealthy so she pays more into taxes. 

 

Which is why artists tour, as the recorded side sucks, and no mater the contracts they renew, the only way to make a better profit is to own your masters like most acts do today, and be independent..which is actually more common as it's easier to self distribute the music.

 

It helps to also Be involved with everything, playing an instrument, producing the tracks, that gets artists more money, than most realize, the more input you have as an artist, the better the royalty rates are in the contracts.
