Anyway, as the award went to the writer/composer, they wouldn’t have gone on stage anyway (as singers) to accept, unless Steven Schwartz had agreed with them beforehand that he couldn’t make it and they do it on his behalf if he won.

Perhaps, it was organised with the Oscar committee that if Steven Schwartz won, JLo would accept it on his behalf. Something, it appears, that the two singers didn’t know by the look on their faces.
