Also you have to remember that Tommy Matolla  and Sony used to pretty much buy number 1 hits for Mariah back in the 90’s by discounting her singles to .49 cents.

Mariah carey. Period. She had a number one song EVERY year in the 90s, including the year 2000. Sometimes almost all the year she had the #1 song, and i think one year the WHOLE year practically.

I have to agree with your first 3.  The 90's was about freedom, revolution, and having something to say.  Madonna was THE groundbreaking artist that defined pop as we know it today.  Mariah had pretty songs that were fun to listen to, but she didn't make any kind of statement like Madonna did.  Alanis Morissette knocks Shania down to the very bottom of the list (out of spite because Shania cheated to beat Alanis' sales record of best selling debut by female artist by re-releasing her album with extra songs).  Everybody had Jagged Little Pill.  That album was genre defining and opened the door for a whole new sound that hundreds of female artists tried to copy.  Whitney is overrated in my opinion too.  And Celine is the Queeeeen of vocals and EPIC music that takes you away.  Sorry Mariah.
