This. Jlo's last album (from 2014) literally did 30k first week. Glory sold 3 times more despite being released more than 2 years later. Both Britney and JLo have turned into nostalgia acts, one of them can still change that.

Yes she is a nostalgia act and it will be hard for her to become a mainstream, relevant pop girl again. Everyone I know thinks Britney is lame, washed out, and that her "****" act is past its time. She needs a reinvention. The thing about a lot of nostalgia acts is that they have at least evolved musically and have challenged themselves to make different kinds of music. Britney's music is largely similar, not too much variation considering she has 9 albums.

And for her next era, I would be very surprised if her lead single charted in the top 30, or even top 40 tbh. Her fanbase is dwindling, and the music industry is becoming more and more streaming focused. She needs something fresh, similar to what Miley is doing right now. Something that will garner her respect with the GP.
