Was Britney’s fashion style inspired by Carrie Bradshaw from SATC?

Britney in For the Record while shopping: “It’s a Sarah Jessica Parker dress”

While watching this iconic show, I couldn’t help but see some of Britney’s fashion! I know she loved SATC and I wonder if her sense of fashion was inspired from Carrie and this show?

Although pop girls of the 90s were wearing crop tops, Britney really brought back crop tops to the GP. I’m not sure of the dates of the seasons where SJP was wearing newsboy caps, and fedoras, but I almost want to say Britney brought those back as well. Britney’s stylists back then were impeccable and Britney was a huge influence in culture.

Carrie wore some wild outfits that only she could pull off, much like Britney. Both were fashion icons of that era and probably inspired each other.

No, Britney’s style was more bold, abstract, grunge and emphasized a lot on low-rise jeans. In fact, their styles couldn’t be anymore different based on the photos you presented.

It's the '00 trends. Everybody in the street wore outfits like that. Just like everyone right now is wearing oversized Uniqlo T-shirt and shorts.

What oxoxo said. Another connection: Apparently the SATC ladies sometimes listened to Britney while having hair and makeup done. This is part of why Kim Catrall took the role in 'Crossroads.'

Britney has a lot of "cute" and memorable outfits (outside of the stage where she always delivers) but her style to me is always all over the place that's why I was kinda shock when I knew she was in a Vogue cover.

Question, during the Onyx tour she said she was obsessed with SATC, now I wonder if she was hook since the series premiered in 98' or it was later during her 20s  I was a teen watching SATC
