  1. Hey everyone! So depending where your head is at about Twitter I highly recommend Mastodon! I’ve been on Twitter for a few months now and only have like 70 or so followers. I joined Mastodon to try it out, wasn’t crazy about it at first, so went back to Twitter. Came back on beginning of November and this month alone built a network of over 400 followers. The social media site is experiencing a boom due to “Twitter Refugees” migrating to the platform. Therefore, if you start an account now, due to the immense traffic and people all starting out new, you’ll likely build a network a LOT faster than Twitter. It’s probably akin to how it was when Twitter started. Mastodon is unique though in that while having a profile on the site gives you access to the site as a whole, to sign up and make a profile you need to choose a “server”/community. And obviously for folks who are LGBTQ+ there’s plenty. @Jordan Miller not sure if you’ve heard of the platform but unlike Twitter it is open source. Meaning you can start your own server (e.g. a Britney Spears server) and you basically build a community within the broader community. And by you being the creator of the server you are the moderator and admin. Which reminds me, a lot of people are leaving Twitter due to moderation becoming looser. Moderation on Mastodon is decent but because it is open source and the entire site is comprised of “communities” created by people, it’s important you choose the right community for you since the moderation is done by that specific community’s admins NOT Mastodon. It’s really diverse. Doesn’t seem to have the same negativity and toxic behaviours as Twitter. They have a bit of a different etiquette and norms. There are no algorithms so everyone tags their posts so they show up in places accordingly. Oh and, there’s no ads! If you’re on there DM me your handle so I can follow you! Mine is @hyouka See ya’ll around!
  2. Britney Spears is one of the most famous names in the world, she sold millions and millions of records long before the invention of social media so why would Britney need social media? Currently Britney is not an active singer who needs to promote an album or a tour and even if she were, she does not need the socials to sell. A year ago the whole world was shocked and empathized with her story but to date we have not seen significant progress in her attitude and her continuous posts are only destroying the image that people and her fans have of her, her socials have harmed her relationship with her children, it has harmed her in the legal battle with her father and they have not brought any benefit to her. But why is Britney on social networks if she doesn't need them? attention. As her own son said, Britney does it for attention, but it is not the kind of attention that goes straight to your ego, what she's looking for is affection, the serotonin she receives from the constant feedback on instagram is what make it so addictive to her and no matter how many times she closes her account she comes back after a few days because she needs that attention (affection). A few days ago in one of her audios Britney said that she made it public because her therapist did not have enough time to listen to her, that is a clear indicator that she is not receiving the necessary medical attention she needs after what she lived through, when you have a good therapist you does not need to come to instagram. The networks are an addiction and that's why celebrities like Selena Gomez haven't used socials since years ago and I hope that Britney finally has the circle of people who can help her in that.
  3. In today's world you either are a social media star or a regular Joe. Spree's Main character Kurt (Joe Kerry) fits in the latter, but goes to extreme lengths to be a star, even if it's filming *******. Mischa Barton, Frankie Grande (Ariana's older brother is a star on his own), David Arquette (Scream franchise and Creepshow TV series, 8 Legged freaks, basically horror legend) star in a film where Kurt is obsessed with wanting to be an influencer, though as his friend puts it, he's the influencee (the follower to the influencer). Though he gets the idea to commit ******* and film it in his Spree vehicle (uber basically but streamed live for everybody to watch), eventually he gets kinda notice, the cops are on the look out. His influencer friend mocks him, however his followers think it's a prank, when kurt goes and ******* his friend, they keep saying it's a joke, say its a prank. It's actual not, and like she said in this commentary, that's the reality is some people don't know if it's real or fake.. The whole film serves as a social commentary and a cautionary tale on people who go to extreme lengths to become famous in the digital world.. @Jordan Miller @Slayer

  6. Trump is throwing another temper tantrum. In his latest meltdown, Trump points the finger at Twitter, claiming they're censoring him. Twitter included a fact-check on Trump's Tweets about mail-in ballots because Twitter felt the messages were "potentially misleading." Trump falsely claimed mail-in ballots would lead to widespread voter fraud, so Twitter included a message under his Tweest that read "Get the facts about mail-in ballots," and linked to a page with the actual facts about mail-in- ballots. In other words, Trump was WRONG and is scared people will mail-in their votes because that'll spell bad news for another potential win. Now he's threatening to police social media. "Republicans feel that Social Media Platforms totally silence conservatives voices. We will strongly regulate, or close them down, before we can ever allow this to happen," Trump tweeted Wednesday. He went on to accuse the tech industry of trying to interfere in the 2016 election, before repeating an unfounded claim about voter fraud stemming from mail-in ballots. "We can't let large scale Mail-In Ballots take root in our Country," Trump tweeted. "It would be a free for all on cheating, forgery and the theft of Ballots. Whoever cheated the most would win. Likewise, Social Media. Clean up your act, NOW!!!!" Do you think social media needs to be more regulated? Does Trump have a point?
