Britney reportedly "upset & dejected" after reaching settlement with dad Jamie Spears

Lawyers reached a settlement over her conservatorship last week, and she must foot dad Jamie’s £2million legal bills.

But The Sun can reveal the reason it didn’t go to court was over fears the 42-year-old singer would be put on the stand and made to relive her most embarrassing moments.

Amid concerns for her mental health in 2008, she was put under a conservatorship — her dad then managed her financial and personal affairs.

It was in place until 2021.

A source said: “Britney urged her lawyer to push the case Jamie effectively stole money from her.

“[But] her legal team decided the focus should be on protecting her from reliving the traumas of her conservatorship.”

In a statement in court in 2021 before the conservatorship was revoked, she said: “My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, including my management… they should be in jail.”

Britney and Jamie are yet to comment on the legal settlement.

So it wasn't Britney's decision but her team. Maybe she thought she could keep fighting without taking the stand.

That's a good point. If they were going to go under a microscope then so would she have. Including all her medical records which they are trying to keep under wraps.

Britney should not have had to go to court to relive her traumas, since the trial was based only on money and not abuse.

part of the abuse was her money limitations

They would've had to go through each of her expenses from every aspect of her life

I totally agree. A client instructs a lawyer. It is not a legal team place to decide the "focus should be on protecting her from reliving the traumas of her conservatorship.” That would be completely inappropriate. The decision to settle would have to have been hers, so there must have been some reason for her to decide to do this. In addition, she did not have to foot Jamie's legal costs if you look at the legal document. She may well feel dejected at feeling she had to settle, but Jamie Spears little "victory parade" around the tabloids is distasteful and missrepresents the facts.

Do you really believe the SUN more than her lawyer's statement that it was HER decision?

The court papers state that Britney doesn't have to pay Jamie's lawyer fees.

It does not work that that. You have to instruct your lawyer. They could not have settled without her consent, but they may have strongly advised her to do so and put pressure on.

They have to, cause it needs to fit the narrative that Britney can't speak up for herself and is being played and controlled by everyone around her.

Is it though? Britney went online saying there will probably never be justice and clearly she has settled on stuff.

Healing without justice must be so very hard. I pray for you Britney. You deserve so much better. 

But this movement wasn’t for nothing. They never thought she would escape this and she did. She is freed from them now and many people understand that they are trash human beings. i hope Britney can find some happiness in that moving forward

Yeah I have wondered about that. Lawyers can destroy you on the stand … you need to be very stable and very well prepared. If Britney wasn’t up for that — I can understand that Rose may have hesitated about pursuing certain options that would have required her to take the stand
