Idk if it’s controversial or provocative but I LOVE human nature. If I’m not mistaken it was considered very controversial and provocative at the time but idk.

American Life. It's not a bad song and it does speak the truth. Probably the most controversial single in her career as it almost meant the end of her career...people really weren't happy with it

Like a Prayer, specifically the video, will always be the most controversial moment of her career. The only thing that comes close is her s** book/the Erotica era, but by then people had come to expect Madonna to shock them.

Madame X as a whole. I wanna say it's a top 5 album, but she has so many amazing records that it gets beat out by Like a Prayer, Erotica, Ray of Light, Music, and American Life, so I guess it sits prettily at #6 (yes, I prefer it to Confessions).

It should have the BOMT/Toxic effect on me where I roll my eyes every time locals call them their favorite Britney songs, but I don't know... I recently fell in love with Like a Prayer (the song) all over again - it might genuinely be the best pop song ever written.

MDNA is a serviceable album if you get rid of all the non-Orbit and non-Benassi tracks. All the Martin Solveig songs (except for Beautiful Killer) are offensively bad, though I don't wanna put all the blame on him - Madonna wrote the lyrics, sang the songs, and then put them on her album, so...

Honorable mention: Mer Girl, the closing track on the Ray of Light album. It was shocking for me because of the level of detail and depth. While Madonna has a fair share of deep songs, Mer Girl is just gorgeous and gives me goosebumps every time.

American Life is such a great track, the album slaps as a whole honestly.
