Tbh the last memorable VMAs was 2016, which makes it kind of insane Britney and Beyoncé were even there in a special kind of way? 

MTV now focuses on  its nostalgia which in a way is different from past reality tv models that people often criticize. As a network, I would argue it’s pretty much dead and living off the nostalgia of its past iconic moments, while being able to survive as one of the original networks. They survive because they have that old money now and companies see profits in the merch etc 

it would be interesting to see It reinvent itself as nostalgia grows tired. They should genuinely invite their golden era back and see the response. Give their 80s, 90s, and 2000s stars shows and documentaries. A platform where they can produce promotional pieces for their legacy musical artists while in collab w paramount or YouTube

MTV has money because is under Viacom Paramount company and because its brand still memorable for millennials like me
