Ellen Pompeo to Reduce ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Role in Season 19, Will Star in Hulu Limited Series

According to Variety, Ellen is set to star in a Hulu miniseries inspired by real life events.

Here's a synopsis: a Midwestern couple adopts what they believe is an 8-year-old girl with a rare form of dwarfism. But as they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, they slowly start to believe she may not be who she says she is. As they question her story, they’re confronted with hard questions of their own about the lengths they’re willing to go to defend themselves, falling into a battle that’s fought in the tabloids, the courtroom, and ultimately their marriage.

Now, as for how this will impact her starring role on Grey's Anatomy...

Ellen's character Meredith is staying at Grey Sloan Memorial as an interim Chief Of Surgery. However, she will only be appearing in 8 episodes of the show's 19th season, Deadline reports. She will, however, narrate every episode (even if she's not on screen.)

Just put it out of its misery already. Used to be one of my favorite shows but the way they wrote out Alex made me finally give up. It had been running on empty for years before then and now with Ellen only appearing in a limited capacity, seems like it's time to pull the plug.

She’s literally said that she wants this show to be finished with but they continue to pay her so much that she stays. She’s been very open about not wanting to continue but financially it’s a good move to stay. It seems that they have compromised on her staying and made her appear less.

Mariska harigitay has actually been employed in the same show for over 24 years, probably telling Ellen for God sake the show is literally named after your character, want it to end ask people to stop streaming it, tell people to stop watching, ask shonda to kill your character, stop complaining, do something piss someone off that they will kill your character to let you go. That's how that show let's actors go.
