Do AirPods Live up to the Hype?

Hey Exhale! :hiii_britney_wave_glaad_2018_waving_hello:

Does anyone here listen to music or other media using AirPod Pros? How do you like them? What are their drawbacks? Would you advise someone who doesn’t have them to purchase them?

I’m curious because I’ve thought of upgrading my headphones. I have Beats Solo 3, which are an over the ear type set that make pretty good sound and they have excellent battery life.

I have, however, noticed that on top of them sitting on my head, which messes up my hair, I need something that cancels more noise… I think I’d benefit from that because I work from home now and need to block out more sound. Plus, I work out much more now and for some reason, my Beats Solo 3 feel a little cumbersome.

I really hate giving into consumerism but I’m also really intrigued by AirPod Pros. If anyone has first hand experience, drop a comment  below.

Thanks! :qtbrit_britney_2015_smile_happy:

Yes, I live in New York City, and they are a must-have on the train for their noise cancellation! Also I can talk on the phone, send and receive text messages, and use Siri to ask questions or perform tasks like “Hey Siri, can you play “Gimme More” by Britney Spears on Apple Music?” Or “Hey Siri, can you play the next song?” without having to go on my phone! Which is so nice when I’m walking through the city or when I’m in the middle of doing something or if my hands are full! I know they’re pricey, but AirPods Pro are amazing!! Also I ordered online and got my name engraved on the case; it took like a week to come in, but I like it!

Yeah, I like the idea of them for the fact that they’d work well with the Apple products I have; plus, I have anecdotally heard that their noise cancellation is pretty good for a “simple” earbud.

Do you ever fear that you’re going to lose them? :meltdown_panic_scream_falling_die_ahh_scream_yell: I can imagine myself misplacing one of the earbuds or having it end up somewhere it’s not supposed to! :dead_falling_wig_dying: Also, did you have to adjust to the feeling of them in your ear? Are they similar to the traditional earbuds Apple used to provide in an iPhone package? Also also, do you feel like there’s a risk of them falling out, especially if you run/work out with them?

Literally thank you for asking all these questions. I’ve been having the same dilemma as you as well before investing in a pair

Yeah, I kinda wish they did a trial run for the AirPods (even though that would be impossible) because they’re a big investment that have some contingencies lol :cackling_cackle_lol_what_unbelievable_disbelief_glasses_meme: like if they fit like the traditional earbuds, then they’d be no problem. But in pictures of the AirPod Pros, the bud looks pretty bulbous and looks like it wouldn't fit in my ear. I’d hate to spend so much money for something I wouldn’t use…

Anyways, I’m glad other people have these questions/concerns/curiosities! :liberatedaf_beyonce_yellow_lemonade_happy_free_carefree_smile_wind_hold_up:

100%. I bought them the day they were released (my first pair of AirPods of any kind), and I’ve loved them ever since. They are just so much more convenient than any other kind of headphones, even other wireless ones (assuming you have an iPhone/iPad/Mac and not Android/Windows). You just put them in and they work. When you’re done using them, they start charging in their case.

They’re pretty good at blocking out noise for how small they are. If I’m not listening to anything else or just listening to podcasts, I can still hear muffled things in the background, but it cuts down noise significantly. It also has a feature where it’ll turn noise cancellation on temporarily if you have it turned off and there’s a loud sound by you. This saved my hearing once when I was riding my bike on a busy road and a very loud ambulance siren drove right by me and I couldn’t turn noise cancellation on in time.

Transparency mode is great too to be able to listen to music/podcasts while still being able to hear your surroundings. This can be great at work when you need to overhear things.

I have AirPods Pro that I use when I’m working out and for podcasts, and then I have a pair of AirPods Max for office, home, and relaxation use since they are really great sound quality but still have the convenience of AirPods. AirPods Pro sound quality is just fine/okay/satisfactory. Not bad, not great. It’s the convenience and noise cancellation/transparency mode features that keeps me using them.

This is all good intel! Thank you! :hugs_madonna_britney_ftr_2008_circus_hugging_friends_support:

One question though from above: have you ever gone for a run with them in your ears? Do you feel like they’d be stable enough to stay in for activity like that?

Yes! They’re stable for running. They come with 3 different size eartips and you can order third party ones too if somehow those don’t fit.

The noise cancellation is amazing! Umm yeah well one time I dropped them in class and left school, and my phone updated me the location where I left them! I guess they have like location services for the AirPods too? But they didn’t fall out of my ears! The feeling in my ears didn’t need any adjusting it’s not uncomfortable or anything! They’re different from the original headphones though because they have like a rubber grip (or I don’t know what to call it) around the headphones! So they stay in your ears really well, I think! Easy to work out with! Yeah, idk they’re totally worth it for me! Hope I’m not hyping them up too much!

I was super hesitant on spending 250$ on AirPod pros but I finally did it this summer and in my opinion they are so worth it. It takes a few days of wearing them to get them to not slip out of your ears but if you use the right tip they fit well. The sound cancelling is amazing and I’ve definitely gotten my money worth out of them. The charge time is also great and I barely have to charge them.

AirPods are well integrated in the apple ecosystem. Soundwise there are way better options out there. E. g. Sony’s ear- and headphone lineup.

This is good to know! I’m not necessarily a brand snob so I’ll have to research some of the other brands out there! :queenflopga_pink_sass_walking_away_bye:

By a majority of the responses here, you’re not overhyping them! :queenflopga_walk_sass_pink: Slay a bit! :queenflopga_pink_sass_walking_away_bye:
