This Day in Pop: Lindsay Lohan's Speak album turns 16

Speak is Lindsay Lohan's debut album. It was released on December 7, 2004.  The album peaked at number 4 on the Billboard 200 and is certified platinum.

The album produced three singles "Rumors", "Over" and "First". 

 

"Rumors" originally titled "Just What It Is" is her debut single. The song peaked at number 6 and is certified gold. It was nominated for "Best Pop Video" at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards.

 

"Over" was the second single, co-written by Lindsay. The song was about her break-up with Wilder Valderrama.

 

"First" was the third and final single. Released to help promote the film Herbie: Fully Loaded in which Lindsay played the lead role.

 

To promote the album ahead of it's release she performed "Speak" and "Over" Live.

This album has so many gems, my fave is probably Magnet that chorus slaps

Speak should have been a single!

I still listen to this album on the regular...

First shouldn't have made the album and Speak should have taken it's place as a single.

 

To Know Your Name just might be her most underrated track though...

 

 

Nobody Til You is also flawless too

 

Magnet could easily been a single too!

 

Disconnected could have and should have rounded out that era.

 

 

This album probably gets my vote for one of the most underrated albums ever made.
