That's just not rational or logical though. As I said, she was literally a child at that point in time, but also, it's not as if she's some mastermind who came up with the idea. She was probably contractually obliged to do so, with a vague term or condition that allowed it to happen. She's a moderately successful backing singer, who was caught up on it and is a huge fan. Not everything Britney has worked on needs to be examined with that lense, particularly if its just a backing singer is singing background vocals.
