She can have that opinion. I disagree with her completely. If anything, as an artist, Britney is underrated. Her layering and vocal gymnastics was and still is incredible. There are more vocal skills than just belting out notes imo. Britney’s personal life overshadowed her career sadly, which is why I think people feel entitled to say that because she is “famous” she is “overrated”.

I agree. I think people only regard those with huge voices as great singers, but that needs to change

If shes talking about singers and vocalists, Britney is not overrated as a singer because nobody thinks shes a good singer.

If we are talking about artists, artists are not defined by good vocals, but many dumb people think it does.

I think no one has said that Britney is the best, as a singer, not even better than Beyoncé or Mariah.

However, I'd dare to say that to be a good performer, you DO need more than a good voice. And it's not just "s** appeal", it's precisely that X factor, as cliché as it sounds, that makes a performer stand out, memorable.

 

**** girls with catchy songs were everywhere, but no one had Britney's impact. 

 

And in my opinion, an overall great performer is far better and much more entertaining than someone that is just a good singer or songwriter (because there's also a lot of people that discredit Britney for not writing her songs, or that in general put songwriters above people that don't write their lyrics)
