I was wondering yesterday how do views work on youtube, is it like spotify where if you listen to only one song on repeat it stops counting or you can watch on loop and it will count all of them as views? Any expert?

Per account usually 4-5 times a day views are counted from a specific account YouTube algorithm has gotten smart over the years they do also delete the views sometimes sensing those views came from bot accounts! 

If you play the video on mute, the view won't be counted you at least need to watch 30 seconds of the video!
