Social Media, and teens Like lorde, Billie eilish and adult content is what killed Disney channel music status

Recommended Posts

In the 2000s, disney channel ran the teen pop market after the early 00s Britney spears era, a former Disney star herself, while it was successful, and launched careers of Miley cyrus and others, they also touch How a 2003 album from Hilary duff titled "Metamorphosis", allowed Miley cyrus, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez to get recording contracts and deal.

But by 2013 a shift changed and it ended their reign, thanks to a song by Lorde called Royals, which was more adult lyrically content, not explicit, but more mature, plus social media also killed record labels finding stars, now the public decides who they like, and acts like Halsey, Khalid, Troye Sivian, and even Billie Eilish, aren't afraid to tackle more mature subjects like *****, depression, ***uality, and in Billie's case, ****** as well.

So with a more adult, mature and somewhat more explicit in nature, they even said imagine the hell Disney would get if Billie sang the line, "might seduce your dad type", there would be an outrage of the PG rated friendly brand.

So basically, Honest said what killed Disney was a major cultural shift, but he said that doesn't mean they won't create a superstar, they just gotta go outside the family entertainment bubble. But that's a risk, but a risk worth taking is a great long shot.

The only reason Disney and other channels were big during the 2000s was because the only source of entertainment content literally mostly came from the TV and radio. When Netflix and smartphones began to be popular our new source of entertainment was literally in our hands and not TV anymore. Cable TV became obsolete due to apps and YouTube. Streaming apps such Hulu and Netflix killed cable TV and streaming apps such as Spotify and Pandora killed the radio and iTunes. Why do you think our stars come from the internet and not TV anymore? Tv is dead, the reason why Disney and Nickelodeon and all those other channels and stars were big was because we had no other source of entertainment when we were young, they were our only outlets. Now we have a huge spectrum of entertainment which we can find anywhere.
