A guy explains why nobody should sign to major labels

What labels don't and will never tell you, most acts who don't write their material i.e. Toni Braxton,  TLC, etc.  Learned this the hard way. 

 

All that money the label gives these artists as an advancement is a loan.

 

They even pay the limos, the video shoots,  magazines covers, fashion clothes, no matter what.

 

Guess who pays that back, your favorite artist, which is why most concerts are expensive to buy tickets, the artist themselves are able to get a pretty hefty percentage.

 

Some like Madonna,  was able to 87.82% back off of all ticket sales thx to lucrative deals with Live nation.

 

However, artists aren't signing to live nation directly anymore,  given how it was learned,  every album released,  you have to tour.

Shakira was the last act to sign a deal with live nation.  

 

But, this guy said the major labels are slowly dying as the internet allowed independent artists to find ways to release music through services for a small fee.

i see. tinashe writes her own music and if she goes on tour, she could be making the same $$$ as someone who is signed to a label as Tinashe is independent
