"Circus" era was bigger than "Back to basics" era:

ALBUM SALES
According to credible and expert chart analyst "MjDangerous" both albums sold nearly the same worldwide

* Back to basics - 4,000,000
* Circus - 3,900,000

Only a 100K difference is what separates these albums in terms of pure units sold worldwide, if we consider "Back to basics" was released in a more stable and healthier market in 2006 then we can conclude both releases are pretty even and nearly identical.

STREAMING PERFORMANCE
Both albums' main 3 singles seem to be similarly streamed on Spotify however it is the "Circus" album overall the one that took the final lead in the Spotify streaming device.  As for Youtube's platform "Circus" music videos have found more popularity than "Back to Basics" as well.

SPOTIFY:
* Back to basics - 125 million plays
* Circus - 140 million plays

YOUTUBE / Back to Basics:

TOURING RESULTS:
Both singers pulled important worldwide tours for their respective albums. Aguilera's "Back to basics" tour was successful but struggled to sell out the vast majority of its dates, while Spears' "Circus Tour" sold out nearly every date and broke records. Grossing and average per show demonstrate that "Circus" had a much bigger and successful Tour.

* Back to basics Tour - $48,1 million grossing (81 dates) = $593K average per show
* The Circus Starring Britney Spears - $131,8 million grossing (96 dates) = $1,3M average per show

-

Overall the "Circus" era was bigger than "Back to basics".  The interesting fact to know is that "Back to basics" is barely Christina Aguilera's 3rd major studio album and follow-up to "Stripped", while "Circus" served as Spears' 6th Studio album.

LOL! Nothing against Xtina tho. This thread is Analysis oriented only, its not meant to put Xtina down but rather to raise conscience and appreciation to some of Britney's post breakdown success.

"Back to basics" is known as one of Christina Aguilera's bigger eras and its associated with her prime, so I found really interesting that looking at the numbers deeper you'll get that "Circus" was a bigger era, so its more of a celebratory Britney thread based on an analytic chart comparison of two similar peers.
