  1. Thalía new single "Psycho B***h" to be released this Friday Nov. 4 per the singer Twitter Account:
  2. Mexican pop princess Fey is releasing her new single The Perfect Song tonight, featuring DJ and producer Paul Oakenfold who has remixed songs for many different artists, including Britney Spears (Gimme More), Madonna, Maroon 5, Michael Jackson, Adele among many others. Fey releases this as part of the celebration of her 25 years of career, having also uploaded some of the official music videos that were missing on her YouTube account, earlier this month. She's often called the "Queen of the 90's" in Mexico, since she gained a lot of popularity and success with her first three studio albums which were more teen/bubblegum pop oriented, however, she was one of the main artists to bring the electronic sounds and Euro Dance influences to the Latin scene, mostly in her deep cuts. In the 00's she explored even further these electronic genres, but since she went independent, she never got the same popularity she obtained at the beginning of her career. Some people often label her as "the Mexican Kylie Minogue" not only because of the musical style, but because they even argue they have similar physical features. Fey is even a self-proclaimed Kylie fan, naming Into the Blue the best song of 2014. The song premieres in about 3 hours, so make sure to check it out You can check more of Fey here:
  3. Mexican singer Thalia revisited her iconic looks in the latest edition of Mexican Vogue "La Vida en looks". In a photoshoot by Raúl Tovar, Thalia, now 49, recreated some of her pictures from her 1992 Love era, shot by Adolfo Pérez Butrón; she was 21 at the time. Related:
  4. On April 25, 1997 the Los Angeles City Council decreed that every April 25, the International Day of Thalia would be celebrated in the United States, as evidence of the Mexican singer's growing popularity among the Latino community in the country, after her successful telenovelas María Mercedes (1992), Marimar (1994) and María la del Barrio (1995), as well as her music career, especially her platinum-certified album En Éxtasis (1995). Later that year, she would release her fifth studio album Amor a la Mexicana, featuring the international hit of the same name, as well as other tracks such as Por Amor and Mujer Latina. Earlier that year, she had released her first compilation album, Nandito Ako, exclusive to the Philippines where she had gained huge popularity because of her soap operas, causing a commotion in the country the first time she visited them. Nandito Ako included some songs in Tagalog, the second spoken language in the Philippines, including the opening theme of María la del Barrio, and it went on to become one of the best selling albums of all time in that country, receiving multiple platinum certifications. Thalia, now 49, has remained active through the years, releasing a total of 16 studio albums and over 70 singles. One of her latest hits was No Me Acuerdo ft. Natti Natasha, released in 2018. 5. Mexican singer Thalia has shared a lyric video of her 1991 hit Amarillo Azul. The song served as the third single off her debut solo album Thalía released in September 1990, but it didn't count with an official music video. The video displays several images of her from the 90's, along with a floral theme for which she was known at the beginning of her solo career. "The queen of Flower Power" used to incorporate flowers on her stage outfits and mic, as well as props. Thalia, 49, who was very criticized at the beginning of her career for her provocative image and songs, shared yesterday an empowerment post on her social media defending women's right to post whatever they like on social media: Her post makes reference to her social media pictures, as well as the Christian songs she's been covering lately, the latest being Cristo, Heme Aquí, uploaded to her channel last week. 6. Over the last few days, Mexican singer Thalia has celebrated the digital release of her first three records, which original came out three decades ago. On January 31, they occupied the top two positions on the Mexican iTunes chart, as well as the #4: Thalía (1990) - #1 Love (1992) - #2 Mundo de Cristal (1991) - #4 These three albums were Thalia's first solo efforts after being a member of one of the biggest Latin American pop bands, Timbiriche, from 1986 to 1989. Released through the now defunct record label Melody / Fonovisa, they had been absent from digital stores, until last week. Parallel to her singing career, she was the co-host of a TV show in Spain, VIP Noche, and in 1992 she starred on what would be one of the most successful gigs of her career, the "María's Trilogy" of telenovelas, three soap operas that were seen by more than 2.2 billion people around the world across 182 countries: María Mercedes (1992), Marimar (1994) and María la del Barrio (1995). Her last telenovela would be Rosalinda in 1999. In 1994 she signed with EMI, with which she recorded 7 studio albums, and since 2012 she's released 6 more studio albums, this time with Sony Music, as well as two live albums.
  7. Lynda Thomas is a Mexican singer that was very popular in the 90's, with many hits in the genre of teen pop / dance. Actually, Lynda was born in the same city I'm from She was one of the few acts that managed to survive the 90's and transition into a new sound in the 2000's. Her image and style changed for something more urban and pop/rock but she always had conflicts regarding that aspect, both internally and with label execs and the people that managed the entertainment industry that set certain standards for women, especially pop singers. Her last album was released in 2002, and ever since she basically retired, at the peak of her success. She stopped releasing music on her own or making public appearances, but she kept working behind the scenes as producer and songwriter for many of the pop bands that came out in the mid 00's, such as RBD and Kudai, but after that she simply vanished. For more than 10 years, her location was a mystery, fans and media alike ignored where she lived or if she was even alive. It wasn't until 2018 that Ari Borovoy, a former peer of hers from the Mexican music scene, contacted her to participate on the 90's Pop Tour. They convinced her to appear as a guest performer in several concerts, and ever since, she "came back" at least with a presence on social media. She's released a couple of songs in this time, including a new Christmas bop, but the projects she teased since 2018, which were a book and a new sort of album / concert with a mix of her hits reworked with new arrangements, and completely new songs that she hasn't released before, haven't come to fruition and she tends to disappear from social media for long periods of time. Yesterday she uploaded a new version of her 1999 hit Corazón Perdido This was the original version She's also announced a new single coming out this Thursday https://www.instagram.com/p/CHs-R2-Bnwi/ She obviously does all of this independently, with no association to any record label and with no intention of doing a full comeback, since she's now dedicated to her son, and I think the time she spent in the limelight really hurt her forever. These are some of her hits, where you can see the evolution she had throughout her short career: Her career is so abandoned that her official Youtube channel was mixed up with some Lynda Sherizade whoever that is
  8. On October 9, 1990, Mexican singer Thalía released her first album, called Thalía too (it would be the first of three homonym albums ). After being part of the most successful pop band in Mexico at the time, Timbiriche, from 1987 to 1989, she decided to leave the band and move the United States to study at the UCLA. She learned English, besides taking dance, singing and acting classes. She returned to Mexico to record her first LP produced Alfredo Díaz Ordaz whom she would later become romantically involved. The album sold over 200K copies in Mexico, and she's released 15 other albums ever since, as well as several compilations, live albums and EP's. 4 singles were released to promote the album: Un Pacto Entre los Dos, Saliva, Amarillo Azul and Pienso en Ti. Sadly, her first three records are very hard to find on digital platforms due to problems with the record label. She also had an acting career from the late 80s until 2000, and she was known as the Queen of Telenovelas in Mexico. Her music style has changed a lot over the years, and she continues very active to this day. Just yesterday she released her latest single, a collaboration with Colombian artist Farina. Related:
  9. Who? Nowadays, after urban music has taken over the mainstream radio and became the biggest force when it comes to streaming in Latin America, it's hard to imagine that at some point the Pop genre used to rule the music scene. In the last half of the 00's, RBD was the Mexican band that helped to popularize the teen pop and pop/rock genre even more, and after they disbanded in 2009, no pop act enjoyed a similar level of success as theirs, and then reggaeton and urban music in general took over. In January 2008 they released Empezar Desde Cero, the second single off their fifth studio album of the same name, released in 2007. An extra cheesy and more bubblegum-pop-ish compared to the rest of their discography, it was chosen by the fans as the next single and it has the particular distinction that is mainly sung by Maite Perroni, a member of the band that wasn't featured a lot in most of the songs throughout their different albums, since she didn't really have a singing background as Anahí or Dulce María did. After many years since their music was wiped out of music streaming services, due to legal issues with the owners of the group's rights and the record label, their music catalog was finally made available last week, on Spotify, Apple Music and especially YouTube, where they uploaded lyric videos for all of their songs, as well as the official music videos (some were uploaded, while others were unlocked). One of the missing videos though, was Empezar Desde Cero, which has been uploaded today in high quality. To most of you, RBD might be unfamiliar if you're not used to listen to music in Spanish, and even more a group that's been disbanded for more than a decade, but if you really like pop music, make sure to give it a try: They have a strong fanbase, that is still alive after all these years, and they were the main ones that kept asking for their catalogue to be available again. Last week, they even broke some records on Spotify, with no other promotion than some small Twitter clips made by their members: I miss my teenage years
  10. As you know, RBD's catalogue arrived to Spotify, Itunes and other streaming platforms few days ago. Well, after 12 years of the band's split, RBD has broken records. Suprassed BTS's record as the most followed playlist in 24 hours. "THIS IS RBD" got 175,000 followers in less than 24 hours. BTS's record was 125,000. Right now, the playlist got 280,000 followers in less than 48 hours. The song 'Sálvame' got 12M streaming in only 45 minutes. RBD's albums has been charting in Itunes' top 50 and top 20. (Latin American and Europe) They did not promo for this comeback and they were banned from radio back in the day. THE IMPACT IS REAL! All of their albums are on physical formats in mexican stores again. Next 4th, October, 2020, the band will be making a special annoucement to all their fans around the world. Register on https://seroparecer.world/ and be ready to be part of this new era of RBD. It's rumoured to be a new worldwide tour or virtual concert. I'm not gonna lie, I'm so excited! Even Billboard is excited... https://newsroom.spotify.com/2020-09-03/rbd-the-global-pop-phenomenon-brings-its-entire-catalog-to-spotify/ You can listen to the playlist here:
  11. Mexican Pop singers María José and Belinda are two of the coaches on the current season of The Voice - Mexico and they've joined forces to perform María José's 2013 single Prefiero Ser Su Amante (which could translate to I'd Rather Be His Lover) proving why they earned their place on the show. Watch the performance below: María José "La Josa" was part of the pop band Kabah from 1992 to 2005, when the group split, after which she embarked on a solo career earning several hits ever since. Unintentionally or not, she's been characterized for covering songs from the 80's, being No Soy Una Señora her biggest hit In 2015 the group came back for a joint tour with archenemy group from the 90's OV7, and María José joined them for the most part of it. One of the most iconic moments of the concert was her high note or "grito" while performing their 90's hit Vive. Starts at around 2:46 all the way through 3:10 lol She hasn't been part of the group's latest projects since she left this tour, which were the tours Únete a la Fiesta and 90's Pop Tour. You can see more of Belinda here:
