  1. This is iconic and Anahi looks so hot!
  5. RBD uploaded a recent live performance of their english hit Tu Amor from their 2006 English language debut Rebels (retitled We are RBD in Japan). Tu Amor is a cover of A Jon B song written by Superstar songwriter of the 90s, Diane Warren. Christian Chavez (who I just found out is actually American, which explains why they had him front several of the English tracks that was aimed for singles) Carried this song himself, and many believe he was the true breakout star of the group in the first place, cos as we see her in a ballad track, he performs like its upbeat and hes singing to an audience despite no audience at all. He did have a huge LGBT anthem in Mexico with Libertad which is anthem for the LGBT community in Mexico.. Enjoy the breakout star of the group. @PokemonSpears I had a feeling they were going to bring this classic up to remind everybody RBD needs Christian.
  6. So in Latin America we celebrate Christmas too and I've noticed various artists have been releasing Christmas singles these past few weeks. Today, Thalia released an uptempo version of the classic Feliz Navidad. She's already released other Christmas songs before, like this duet with Michael Bublé Gloria Trevi also released another Christmas classic Ven a Mi Casa Esta Navidad as part of a various artists album Eterna Navidad A couple of years ago she had released Esta Navidad The Eterna Navidad album counts with many Latin artists, such as Juanes, Kalimba, Danna Paola, Edith Márquez, Alejandro Fernández, Morat, Paty Cantú among others. They covered 1986 classic Ven a Cantar Coincidentally, the original performers of the song, known as La Hermandad, also released a new version of the song, exactly the same week (though they're part of another record label lol). Mijares, Yuri, Daniela Romo, Pandora, Arianna, Tatiana, Denise de Kalafe, Oscar Athie and Hernaldo Zuñiga reunited virtually to film the new videoclip. The original clip it's been a while Not a new song, but new to the digital platforms, RBD also uploaded their rendition of Los Peces en el Río Also not a Christmas classic per se, but apparently released for the Holidays, Lynda released this new single Bien In 2018 she did release a proper Christmas song Una Vez Más In 1997 she had also participated with other 90's artists under the name of Estrellas de Navidad, in the release of Estas Navidades
  7. Lynda Thomas is a Mexican singer that was very popular in the 90's, with many hits in the genre of teen pop / dance. Actually, Lynda was born in the same city I'm from She was one of the few acts that managed to survive the 90's and transition into a new sound in the 2000's. Her image and style changed for something more urban and pop/rock but she always had conflicts regarding that aspect, both internally and with label execs and the people that managed the entertainment industry that set certain standards for women, especially pop singers. Her last album was released in 2002, and ever since she basically retired, at the peak of her success. She stopped releasing music on her own or making public appearances, but she kept working behind the scenes as producer and songwriter for many of the pop bands that came out in the mid 00's, such as RBD and Kudai, but after that she simply vanished. For more than 10 years, her location was a mystery, fans and media alike ignored where she lived or if she was even alive. It wasn't until 2018 that Ari Borovoy, a former peer of hers from the Mexican music scene, contacted her to participate on the 90's Pop Tour. They convinced her to appear as a guest performer in several concerts, and ever since, she "came back" at least with a presence on social media. She's released a couple of songs in this time, including a new Christmas bop, but the projects she teased since 2018, which were a book and a new sort of album / concert with a mix of her hits reworked with new arrangements, and completely new songs that she hasn't released before, haven't come to fruition and she tends to disappear from social media for long periods of time. Yesterday she uploaded a new version of her 1999 hit Corazón Perdido This was the original version She's also announced a new single coming out this Thursday https://www.instagram.com/p/CHs-R2-Bnwi/ She obviously does all of this independently, with no association to any record label and with no intention of doing a full comeback, since she's now dedicated to her son, and I think the time she spent in the limelight really hurt her forever. These are some of her hits, where you can see the evolution she had throughout her short career: Her career is so abandoned that her official Youtube channel was mixed up with some Lynda Sherizade whoever that is
  8. Who? Nowadays, after urban music has taken over the mainstream radio and became the biggest force when it comes to streaming in Latin America, it's hard to imagine that at some point the Pop genre used to rule the music scene. In the last half of the 00's, RBD was the Mexican band that helped to popularize the teen pop and pop/rock genre even more, and after they disbanded in 2009, no pop act enjoyed a similar level of success as theirs, and then reggaeton and urban music in general took over. In January 2008 they released Empezar Desde Cero, the second single off their fifth studio album of the same name, released in 2007. An extra cheesy and more bubblegum-pop-ish compared to the rest of their discography, it was chosen by the fans as the next single and it has the particular distinction that is mainly sung by Maite Perroni, a member of the band that wasn't featured a lot in most of the songs throughout their different albums, since she didn't really have a singing background as Anahí or Dulce María did. After many years since their music was wiped out of music streaming services, due to legal issues with the owners of the group's rights and the record label, their music catalog was finally made available last week, on Spotify, Apple Music and especially YouTube, where they uploaded lyric videos for all of their songs, as well as the official music videos (some were uploaded, while others were unlocked). One of the missing videos though, was Empezar Desde Cero, which has been uploaded today in high quality. To most of you, RBD might be unfamiliar if you're not used to listen to music in Spanish, and even more a group that's been disbanded for more than a decade, but if you really like pop music, make sure to give it a try: They have a strong fanbase, that is still alive after all these years, and they were the main ones that kept asking for their catalogue to be available again. Last week, they even broke some records on Spotify, with no other promotion than some small Twitter clips made by their members: I miss my teenage years
  9. As you know, RBD's catalogue arrived to Spotify, Itunes and other streaming platforms few days ago. Well, after 12 years of the band's split, RBD has broken records. Suprassed BTS's record as the most followed playlist in 24 hours. "THIS IS RBD" got 175,000 followers in less than 24 hours. BTS's record was 125,000. Right now, the playlist got 280,000 followers in less than 48 hours. The song 'Sálvame' got 12M streaming in only 45 minutes. RBD's albums has been charting in Itunes' top 50 and top 20. (Latin American and Europe) They did not promo for this comeback and they were banned from radio back in the day. THE IMPACT IS REAL! All of their albums are on physical formats in mexican stores again. Next 4th, October, 2020, the band will be making a special annoucement to all their fans around the world. Register on https://seroparecer.world/ and be ready to be part of this new era of RBD. It's rumoured to be a new worldwide tour or virtual concert. I'm not gonna lie, I'm so excited! Even Billboard is excited... https://newsroom.spotify.com/2020-09-03/rbd-the-global-pop-phenomenon-brings-its-entire-catalog-to-spotify/ You can listen to the playlist here:
  10. RBD was a very successful Mexican pop band that existed from 2004 to 2009. The group was formed as part of the story of the mega successful soap opera Rebelde, which was based on Argentinian series Rebelde Way. The Mexican "telenovela" was aired from 2004 to 2006, but the group remained active a few more years after it finished. The members of the group were Anahí, Dulce María, Alfonso Herrera, Christopher Uckerman, Christian Chávez and Maite Perroni. Except for Anahí who had released a few solo albums before, and Dulce María who had been part of two minor pop bands, they didn't really have a singing background and they were mostly known by their acting gigs in television. Thanks to the success of the telenovela which was broadcasted in many countries through Televisa network, including European ones where they don't even speak Spanish, like Turkey, they became one of the most successful Latin American groups ever, if not the most, by selling more than 10M records and 10M concert tickets around the world. The success was kinda unexpected, since previous teenage dramas had already counted with a musical group as well, but they were never really known outside the population that made up their viewership, and certainly their popularity never lasted after the soap opera came to an end. Brazil in particular gave them their most diehard fans despite the language barrier, and RBD became the first Spanish-speaking act to headline and sell out the Maracaná Stadium in that country. Besides Mexico and Brazil, they toured many other countries like Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Spain, Slovenia, Serbia, Romania and even the United States: they performed at the Coliseum in L.A. for 65K+ people, a show that was sold out in 30 minutes and holds the record as the second highest-income show in the venue's history, only behind The Rolling Stones. Their first tour in Mexico also stands as the 4th fastest selling tour in the country, only behind The Cure's 2004 Sing to the Deadly Mouse Trap Tour (#1), Britney Spears' 2002 Dream Within a Dream Tour (#2), and Backstreet Boys ' 2001 Black & Blue Tour (#3). At the peak of their success though, on August 15, 2008 they announced through a press release that the group would disband on March 10, 2009. I would dare to say, after they disappeared, no other pop act in Mexico, solo or group, has had any success remotely comparable to theirs, and it definitely marked the beginning of the death of pop in Mexico, taking the urban music their spot in the mainstream music. At more than 10 years of their disbandment, they've refused to come back or reunite as many other groups have done in the past. There were even strong rumors that they would reappear at the Brazil 2014 World Cup ceremonies, but that ultimately didn't happen. Due to legal and contractual issues, their music was removed from digital platforms, and has been gone for many years now. Fans, especially those from Brazil have been very insistent, and many attempts had been done to bring their videos and albums, even through fan accounts on YouTube, but they're always removed due to copyright. Last month, however, Spotify finally announced that their music is coming to the platform on September 3, and there's now an official RBD YouTube account that is expected to upload their music videos as well. They also launched a countdown for a mysterious event that is happening on October 4. Update: it's here The telenovela that started it all, is currently being aired (for the millionth time) and they upload summaries of the episodes on YouTube every day.
