I'm talking about the symbolism and use of The Crash as a feature in LaChapelle's work with Britney. I would agree that not everything is a reference to 2007, but this photoshoot (and by extension, the Make Me Music Video) was very symbolic of Britney's situation. We could  be applying this in retrospect, but we could also being seeing directly as suggested and delivered. 

This entire photoshoot was very deliberate and considered, its not a coincidence that the artwork (or a suggestion to it) was used, and it is not a negative thing; Britney has dominated pop culture, rejected it and dominated it again.
