I can imagine these court hearings are EXTREMELY stressfull when they are in fact about your life and it can be very hurtfull to hear lawyers deny what you’ve been saying or play it down or whatever. As a lawyer I can say it’s very common for clients to prefer not to be present, not bc they don’t care or like waiting but simply because it’s taking a huge toll on them having to hear and relive the trauma they have been subjected to.
