But it also broke ground. Back in the 90s it was very difficult for gay culture to be accepted. Madonna broke that barrier and showed the world. These people exist and their fabulous. But also showed the struggled many felt to be accepted by the world and the media itself. 

 

It's also noted. Reality tv existed in America only cos of this film. And it definitely created the subculture of celebrity reality tv.
