I remember it being really big, and having highest opening week of her career. I'm not doubting it was like that.

Damita Jo was was just after the incident wasn't it?

Were older pop stars suffering as bad as they do now back then? It's kinda a bit of a separate question. Shania, was she older back then, or is it different cos she was country.

I'm not saying that they're on the same level. Just chart-wise.

And a thing to be noticed is that all the big stars from the 90's lose their chart power those years.

Whitney/Mariah.. even Madonna, you can have your own list.

 

And my whole point here is that a previous successful album don't guarantee the next.

Damita Jo would've flop with or without the incident.

Well that lead single that she had was terrible. I remember it. 

I put it down to the Superbowl incident and I'm not sure if I can entirely agree that it would have flopped although I'm not saying it wouldn't have.

I still feel like Janet didn't deserve that at all. It was unfair, me thinks Janet would've got away with it had she been born 10 years later. I know not everyone is gonna agree with that but I think there was something off about that.
