  1. In, 2010 Katy Perry and her cartoon characters larger than life persona, Lady gaga catering to the underground club culture, where she boldly and proudly proclaimed nightly on her monster ball that she locked the weirdos (straight laced people) were banned from her show, cos they don't represent the new revolution of being one true self. And of Course Rihanna who was on track to be the artist that could overtake Mariah's Billboard record. But, it all changed in 2013, when gaga released Artpop, and it was given a mixed reception by the critics and audiences alike, Katy and Prism wanted to be taken seriously and Rihanna would begin her first actual hiatus in 2014, she entered her second one in 2017. So, what happened to pop music, The Atlantic explains it basically died, when Dr. Luke and Kesha court battle took the pop Music court, black lives matter, and artists wanting to be political, mostly female, turned people off. Reggaeton and Latin hip hop music is popular, cos it never went political the way the English pop Music did, and the Atlantic thinks it truly can't make a comeback, until a pop star wants to remain neutral, it's okay to be political, but for a genre that was built in escapism, what's the point in embracing a music genre that lost the whole plot and premise it was built around.
  2. Let’s see if the REAL story gets main-paged! This thread was main-paged based on a tweet by Twitter account PopCrave that is several days old and contains a photoshopped tweet as a “resource” This is the order of events with the full story: Before you go off, you don’t have to like or agree with Ben Shapiro to see the timeline laid out appropriately in this video. (Includes all tweets in the exchange) So Cardi, who has huge pull, is publicly slandering and spreading misinformation about two (indirectly 3) people. You guys, her trashy self DUG UP doctored tweets and posted them to share with the world and LOLed about it because she was pissed that someone didn’t think her performance was tasteful when it was being shoved down the throats of anyone who watched the Grammys. come on. I’d like to start a conversation if we can about how much of what we digest is twisted like this. And for people who are both writing threads that become articles like this, (or any for that matter,) you should do your research before taking to the keyboards and spouting off a story you didn’t bother to finish researching. You don’t end a story at the point that is most pleasing to you, you end it at the end. No matter what you think of either of these two women, at least educate yourself before screaming your opinion for neighbors to hear. Times are a-changing but we need to be more transparent and also more understanding of how rapidly our culture is deteriorating and being pushed into this over-***ualized market. Kids are getting procedures done like crazy now. You think it’s because they’re NOT being influenced by pop culture? Kids are dancing like this now. I’m not being a stick in the mud, I’m saying LITERAL 7 year olds are doing the crybaby. You think they’re NOT being influenced by pop culture? My opinion is that THAT performance took it too far for a program broadcast on CBS at 8PM, that is expected to be more family friendly than this. If that was on the VMAs or the BET Awards, you think it would be such a thing? And Candace made it about what she thinks her acts of women empowerment are, which don’t include the performance choreo... or the lyrics of the song. I know none of you can do anything about it, but just look how far we have fallen morally. That’s the root of this. And to circle it back, we can’t accept inaccurate reporting. It’s connected. TLDR: watch the Ben Shapiro video and then see what you think. and I believe this original thread needs to be removed from the main page because many readers get their music news from reading the headlines and the article was written to incorrectly celebrate Cardi B and it makes Candace look bad. It’s just. A lie. edit: thank you Jordan, I see the story is no longer featured.
  3. Whether this is in bad taste or not I am very interested in knowing who most people support regarding these two high profile cases claiming abuse and violence. Who do you support and what are your reasons? Is there a major difference in the two cases and what are they exactly?
  4. I never thought my first post would be about politics. I actually tend to ignore those posts when I come to Exhale. I come here for tea and because it seems to be one of the few positive places on the internet. But today I just woke up with this heavily on my mind and I feel like it’s easier to discuss this with people I don’t know than with loved ones. I feel like I’ve really lost friends because of who I supported during this election. It’s never been confirmed by these “friends”, they just kind of stopped talking to me. I feel like this whole election has just brought out their true colors. Not even just with how they feel about me, but also their low key racist tendencies. It’s just such a bizarre and uncomfortable situation and it makes me sad. Has anyone else experienced this or something similar?
  5. Given Kanye west Mental health Bi-polar and other do you think he should be allowed to run for presidency ?? Not to offend anyone who is bi polar ( i am ) but given he recently refused medical and personal help wat guarantees such will not happen if he wins and how will his mood swings ( which apparently are extremely extreme) will affect his decisions .. Should mental health be a must screen for by candidates who run for presidency or shud not be ???
  6. The disrespect! A politician just skull-dragged Tinashe for being unable to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Let’s stream “save room for us” so Tinashe can chart‼️
  7. Kanye West isn't shy about telling people what's on his mind. In his new interview with GQ, Kanye doesn't directly say he'll vote for Trump, but reading between the lines it's clear that's what he's alluding to. “Black people are controlled by emotions through the media. The media puts musicians, artists, celebrities, actors in a position to be the face of the race, that really don’t have any power and really are just working for white people…So let me say this: I am the founder of a $4 billion organization, one of the most Google-searched brands on the planet, and I will not be told who I’m gonna vote on because of my color. I’m definitely voting this time. And we know who I’m voting on.” (Kanye West didn’t vote in the 2016 election.) Black communities are the hardest hit in the country when it comes to the Coronavirus. That's because, in my opinion, the government doesn't care. Kanye voting for Trump extends this equality gap even further. Does Kanye have an obligation to vote for Biden or is his vote for Trump all good? I know America is freedom of speech and choice, but this feels irresponsible of him. Thoughts?
  8. After dropping out last week, Bernie Sanders publicly endorses Joe Biden for president, CNN reports. "We need you in the White House. I will do all that I can to see that that happens, Joe," Sanders said to Biden in a livestream broadcast. Biden was quick to reply. "I think that your endorsement means a great deal," Biden said. "It means a great deal to me. I think people are going to be surprised that we are apart on some issues but we're awfully close on a whole bunch of others. I'm going to need you -- not just to win the campaign, but to govern." Both agreed to form six task forces to work on policy matters, including economy, education, criminal justice, immigration, climate change and health care. "It's no great secret out there, Joe, that you and I have our differences, and we're not going to paper them over. That's real," Sanders said. "But I hope that these task forces will come together utilizing the best minds and people in your campaign and in my campaign to work out real solutions to these very, very important problems." 9. #Living for this. Cardi B and Bernie Sanders joined forces on Instagram Live to discuss what's going on in the world. As you likely know, Sanders dropped out of the race and endorsed Biden. “It’s hard to feel good when so many people around you are going through ****,” Cardi said. “Some people are using their savings that they had plans for just to live. A lot of pregnant women have to give birth to their kids without their baby father, with no family, just them.” “I had a fit because I was so hurt and upset that you dropped out of the race and everything,” Cardi said “I keep telling my people and my supporters that you guys really need to go and vote. Now we’re between 45 [President Trump], we ain’t going to name him over here, and Joe Biden,” Cardi said. “And you know me, since I’ve been so on you and so focused on you I haven’t done my research on Joe Biden.” Cardi said she's voting for Biden. “One thing is, like the youth, they don’t really rock with Joe Biden because he’s conservative,” Cardi said. She continued, saying that she was “excited” that both President Obama and Sanders endorsed the former veep. Thoughts?
  10. Cardi B is so refreshingly candid. She opens up about some of the latest breaking world news. She is MAD about Bernie dropping out. She says she's gotta learn more about Biden, but will do anything to keep Trump out. “As you guys know, Bernie dropped out of the race. He dropped out of the race. And you know he dropped out of the race? I’m guessing he dropped out because, I’m seeing, he probably saw that he didn’t have a good chance at winning,” Cardi yelled at her followers in an Instagram Live video. “The **** that gets me mad about it is that it’s like, I see a lot of young people… On the Internet always lying. You mother ****, you young mother ****, I’m getting sick of y’all. I’m about to start hanging out with my grandma’s friends because they vote!” She added: "if you think that after the Coronavirus it's gone it's finished... we don't even know when this **** is going to leave," adding we're about to enter a recession. “This **** is very **** serious and y’all not taking it mother **** serious. Right now, the state that America is in, we got no time to play around. You really got to think about yourself. We’re about to go into another recession.” She spilt the tea.
  11. Trunk is garbage. Absolutely horrendous. I am embarrassed to be from America when things like this arise. Beyond un-Presidential. Disgusting. Reporter: Hong Kong. Trump: What's that? China?
  12. Halsey went on the record to say she endorses Bernie Sanders for president. "I am officially endorsing Bernie Sanders for president," Halsey says. "Bernie has been fighting for me since before I was alive... a queer woman in a multi-racial family who was raised poor in an American suburb. A woman who got into the college of her dreams and couldn't afford to go. A person physically tormented by a reproductive health disorder that I couldn't afford to treat." Thoughts? Are you with Halsey?
  13. This pos. Trump's campaign is suing CNN, Washington Post and the New York Times over recent op-eds on Russian interference. I want to double down that they were opinion pieces. First amendment shmirst shmamendent. Source: The Guardian I'd be interested to hear someone defend Trump's stance. Does he have a leg to stand on here?
  14. Hey Exhale, I've always seen this forum to be a place that reaches beyond the walls of music. I created a few new forums, including this one: Politics and global news. 2020 is shaping up to be a monumental year. I think it's important we flex our opinions not just around our tastes in music, but our views as well. This is a safe space to share your beliefs. -- Senator Elizabeth Warren dropped out of the Presidential race, The NY Times reports. I was and am a big Buttigieg fan, but he's thrown his support behind Biden. I like Sanders, too. Btw here's a pic of me meeting Mayor Pete. Who are you guys interested in?
