Right plus people are so comfortable with streaming.  What's going to happen in five years if Spotify and Netflix and Apple Music and Disney+ all close down because of lawsuits or financial decisions?  The people who will have the last laugh are the people who bought the downloads and the DVDs/ Blu-rays, because they will forever own the material.  If all streamers decided to shut down tomorrow and they decided to start charging $3 per song and $40 for a movie, you bet you'll wish you bought the music when it was $1.69 and the movies when they were $12.

iTunes purchases help significantly and they take ONE SECOND.  

 

There is absolutely no "thinking about this differently."  Every person who is buying it on iTunes is still streaming the crap out of it as much as they can.  

You're basically saying "don't vote, just scram about your policy in the streets" - don't you think doing both is more helpful?

It ONLY helps.  Plus, industry-wise, it sends a message to media outlets when a song is sitting pretty at the #1 spot somewhere.

But far more people use Spotify as opposed to iTunes. If you can buy the song, great, but we should encourage this to go viral so people stream the song a lots as well.

I don't think Britney has that strong of a fanbase as Taylor's though.

Performance on iTunes is pretty bad. HMC scored several #1s in just a few hours. MYB did not reach the top 3 even in countries where it is only necessary to sell 5 copies to reach the top. Imagine that on Spotify and other platforms the situation will be even worse.

TTWE didn't reach #1 in a ton of countries at all and it became one of the biggest and best-selling songs of the year.

She is doing better than zayn and all other new releases and hype for zayn on social media is huge .
