Drunk ramble> Yeah nobody likes this song and I’ll never understand why!! I mean I guess I really never listened to the actual story/lyrics so maybe those are slightly more generic - and for some people the lyrics are the first thing people focus on but it’s usually the last for me. I assess the way they sound not what they’re saying much of the time - but I think her vocals and the production are super cool. I’m not usually a huge fan of these mid-tempo ballad type things. The production at the time was VERY high end eclectic/experimental. This is what I love most about her older sound from Britney - Itz - blackout. Yeah, it’s pop but it’s not like radio pop or mainstreamified like max Martin on oops and how a similar sound “kit” was used on backstreet, *NSYNC, and every other pop artist during that era. Don’t get me wrong that formula WORKED and I LOVED IT.  Oops on a structural level is a masterpiece. But She NEVER sounded like anything out there on these records when you look back at ITZ and Blackout. And the vast majority of those songs don’t sound outdated in the least. They might feel nostalgic because it was forever ago, but I truly don’t think it sounds dated.
