Borderline and Histrionic personality disorders are mental disorders. In my opinion, though a psychologist can't diagnose medical conditions, the benefits of an accurate clinical diagnosis by a clinical psychologist is immeasurable.

They go to medical school. They understand the physiology of the body. They understand psychopharmacology. They learn about psychological disorders. 

Again, they have ZERO clinical training in EVIDENCE-BASED psychological assessments to make a CREDIBLE diagnosis. 

Again, PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDERS aren't a MEDICAL CONDITION. They can be due to an underlying medical condition, but they are not in and of themselves a medical condition.

As an attorney who regularly deals with difficult witnesses like Amber yet generally believes abuse allegations, Amber dug her own grave on this one. The result of the case was less about expert witnesses, and even character witnesses, than it was about Amber coming across as only wholly uncredible. Not only were Johnny's lawyers smarter and more prepared (truly Camille should give a Masterclass in cross-examination), but all the years of acting could not save Amber from showing her hand.

Admittedly, I did not watch the whole trial, but here are a few highlights that probably had the most impact to the jury:

Specifically, start at 8:10. She's clearly caught in a lie, which would have been mollified if she had a better attorney. When you prep a client, you go over the hard questions the opposition will ask, and this one was completely foreseeable. "Did you donate the settlement to charity?" Not only is she a liar, but she also retained the kind of counsel who cut corners because they thought they had it in the bag. Amber is an actress, so if her attorney truly prepped her, she would be prepared to answer this question in a way that did not make her seem like a sociopath. For example, the prep session could have gone something like this:

Amber's attorney (AA):  Did you donate your settlement to XYZ?

Amber (A): No.

AA: Why not?

A: Because.....

And they would have come up with something. Instead, she's trying to play semantics about how much she "pledged" vs. how much she gave. Good for Camille for not backing down

But that's because I knew how much of a psychopath she is before they even got together.
