Can Britney tie Mariah’s record if she releases new music?

Britney last #1 hit was a decade ago and last year Mariah Carey entered a distinctive club of the only singer to have #1 songs in four different decades. Britney despite not being a chart topper is part of select group of singers that includes Madonna, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Janet Jackson, Usher, Stevie Wonder and (ironically???) Christina Aguilera to have #1 hit in 3 different decades.

if Britney ever return to record again and if that happens in this decade, would you guys think Britney will have a new #1 since she became the most talked woman of 2021?

I'm not sure social media / public support equals streaming power, so I don't think so. Hopefully she can get a top 10, but the streaming era has been very hard on our 90/00s divas.

She would need massive promo and buzz, she’d have to be listed on Spotify playlists and even so she could fall short depending on who’s topping the charts by then

She didn't have any in the 90s, and her only #1 in the 10's is just a feature of an Ed Sheeran song, which would still be #1 without her, so she's overrated.

Depends, charts doesnt mean anything these days HIAM hit no 1 but it's her most forgettable hit! Moving on, US has not been her market since 'Britney' era you need a couple of things to actually hit No. 1 

1. Discounted singles 

2. Different variants of songs to purchase 

3. Depends when she releases her song - A January release will open up her horizon more 

4. How well along you are playlisted on spotify and apple music - you need at least a 100m reach to get humungous streams. 

Britney or really anyone can hit no 1 or top 10 these days it is all about being smart and sometimes being petty too! Streaming wise Britney is not a monster but this year Britney has been doubling her numbers with the same amount of playlisting which clearly shows how relevant she has become this year even musically, she's just behind Beyonce considering the fact that Lemonade was her streaming her and she also put out a remix in 2020 which was also a featured hit for her. 

 

If her team/new team is being smart about things then hitting no 1 is on a BB chart is really is not that big of a deal too.

Beyonce last solo hit was halo! Girlie has been carried on charts with features + lemonade was a hit for her though but not single wise.

If she gets another number one album as well, would she be the only one to have a number one album in 4 different decades?

The music video would have to debut at the same time though.

Music videos don't even get a lot of views anymore which is crazy to me.

Beyonce and her whole career is completely overrated. Always was an industry plant, although she do have a good voice (sometimes).
