Mexican singer Ariadna Thalia Sodi Miranda Mottola, simply known as Thalia was born on August 26, 1971 in Mexico City.

At age 9 she joined children's group Pac Man, later known as Din-Din to participate in a TV music festival called Juguemos a Cantar, and later in 1986, she would join Timbiriche, one of the most successful pop groups ever in Latin America, until she left the band in 1989 to pursue a solo career.

Parallel to her singing career, she ventured into acting in the late 80's, a highlight being her participation in the juvenile soap opera Quinceañera, and later starring in the "trilogy of the Marías" in the 90's: María Mercedes (1992), Mari Mar (1994) and María la del Barrio (1995), which have been aired in over 180 countries around the world, giving her the title of "Queen of telenovelas" and making her the highest paid actress ever in Televisa, the biggest TV network in Mexico. Her telenovelas helped her music reach non-Spanish speaking territories, such as Europe and Asia, becoming the most widely recognized Spanish-speaking soap star in the world, and even obtaining the legend status in the Philippines. Her last telenovela so far has been Rosalinda in 1999.

After leaving Timbiriche in 1989, she moved to Spain where she hosted the late night show VIP Noche, and then she was signed by the now defunct Melody, who published her first three studio albums: Thalía (1990), Mundo de Cristal (1991) and Love (1992).

She caused controversy with her provocative image and the topics of her songs, as well as the outrageous outfits she would wear onstage.

Then she was signed with EMI with whom she released her next seven studio albums, the first of which gave her her first international hits, including the opening themes of her telenovelas.

Lunada was released in 2008 and it would be her last album under EMI. She struggled with the Lyme disease after being bitten by a tick, forcing her to cancel further promotion for this record besides the lead single Ten Paciencia and promo single Será Porque Te Amo, thus making it one of her least successful albums in terms of sales.

Thalia is Mexican/White, meaning her ancestors were mostly Caucasian but at some point some flava was added in the family tree.

tbh that's the case for most Mexicans, that's why we don't really care that much about race, because even people with darker skin, somewhere up their tree, they must have some European ancestry, it's very small the population that is 100% native.

But that's a whole 'nother topic lol
