I think they’re referring to the way they sing certain words and sing with a fake indie accent. Instead of pronouncing love as love they say Luveh. They elongate certain words are change the sound of them by singing in the fake indie accent. An example of this would be Halsey, Julia Micheal’s etc.  
and then you have Camilla Cabello who sings in an extremely nasal vocal fry tone.
