Britney posted a note on Instagram thanking the Britney Army for their well wishes.

“We are so grateful to share that Maddie is making progress. Thank you all for sending thoughts and prayers our way. Let’s all keep praying."






UPDATE // FEBRUARY 7:

Good news! Jamie Lynn's daughter Maddie regained consciousness mid-day Tuesday (Feb. 7), the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Department tells People in a statement provided by a Spears family rep. “The 8-year-old daughter of entertainer Jamie Lynn Spears was involved in an ATV accident at a family home Sunday in Kentwood, La. Paramedics resuscitated her and she was airlifted to a local hospital. She is aware of her surroundings and recognizes those family members who have kept a round-the-clock vigil since the accident.”

The statement continues: “Doctors were able to remove the ventilator today and she is awake and talking. Maddie continues to receive oxygen and is being monitored closely but it appears that she has not suffered any neurological consequences from the accident.”




UPDATE // FEBRUARY 6:

Britney posted a photo of Maddie on Instagram asking for well wishes and prayers. Additionally, a source tells People Britney has flown to Louisiana to be with her family.

UPDATE // FEBRUARY 6:

New details have emerged regarding Maddie's unfortunate accident on Sunday. According to a statement by Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards obtained by People, the ATV accident took place around 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon on the family's property in full view of Jamie Lynn and husband James Watson.

The report via People:
The child was apparently steering the vehicle to avoid running over a nearby drainage ditch. “In doing so, she overcorrected causing the ATV to enter the pond. The ATV and child were instantly submerged in the water right before their eyes.”

“Within seconds the child’s mother, step-father and other family members reached the pond, dove in and attempted to rescue the child to no avail. The child was trapped and secured by the seatbelt and the ATV’s safety netting. Within two minutes, Acadian Ambulance Services arrived and assisted in freeing the child from the cold waters.”


Maddie is currently in stable but critical condition at a nearby hospital.




UPDATE // FEBRUARY 6:

Sources connected to the Spears family tell TMZ Maddie is currently in critical but stable condition. At the time of the accident, Maddie was "unconscious and taken to a local hospital, where she was airlifted to a New Orleans hospital."

EARLIER // FEBRUARY 5:

Jamie Lynn Spears' 8-year-old daughter, Maddie, was involved in an ATC accident on Sunday.



TMZ reports her condition is extremely serious.

"Maddie was on a Polaris off-road vehicle when it flipped over," they write, adding that Maddie was involved in a hunting expedition at the time of the accident. "We're told she was under water for several minutes and unconscious."

She was then airlifted to a nearby hospital. USA Today reports she's in "critical condition."

JL's rep issued a statement to JustJared:

“The details the media are reporting surrounding the incident regarding Jamie Lynn‘s daughter Maddie are incorrect. Right now the Spears family asks that everyone respect their privacy during this time and appreciates all the prayers and support for their family,” the rep told JustJared.com in a statement.


Dad Jamie Spears told ET he wants people to keep his granddaughter in their prayers.

"All I can say is pray for our baby Maddie," he said.

Jamie Lynn was not with her daughter at the time of the accident.
