Spicechinodiva
The fact that the label is refusing to market her, because it's not a streaming story, or performing well on tik tok, the album is dead. Is this where we basically are at. Wow at this point. Do artists need A&R, and basically old school promo.. Link to comment
Moscow
This is indeed sad to read, what has music industry has come to I don't understand pressure of being relevant is taking a toll on artists. Link to comment

I love when I hear a song she’s written for someone else and her inflections and isms are so PRESENT! She definitely has her own thing. I’ve been trying to put people onto her for the longest 🤷🏽♂️ Link to comment
boyinthemirror
Welcome to the Olivia Rodrigo era of pop music Expect to see sappy lame pop songs like Drivers’ License everywhere that teenagers can relate to Link to comment
UncannyX-Man2099
So stupid. The art of music is dead, and it is a shame that this is what it has come to. Thanks Gen Z for another wonderful contribution to society. Link to comment
road44
Sad and true. Julia’s over all talent trumps 75% of today’s “top 40” and unfortunately she’s not the only one. Ultimately artists are having to fight and push harder than ever for promo and at the end of the day, it’s radio and the industry who are to blame. Side note: I listen to Julia’s “Not In Chronological Order” album on repeat at least once a week. Every song is beautifully crafted and sung while each track reveals another layer of the artist. If you have yet to listen to it, give it a spin. If you have listened to it, listen to it again. I fall in love with it a little more every time I play it. Link to comment

Jamie Lynn Forever
it's only sad if you care about charts , there's plenty of great independent/indie music out there it's only sad if the only music knowledge you have is billboard top 40 manufactured mainstream corporate pop music and nothing else if you keep living off spotify today's top hits to find new artists then it's your own fault people need to expand your music horizons and stop living off gay stan twitter to find new artists Link to comment

Cos Julia who's signed to a major record label, is explaining why she's not being promoted. @Prachi works in the industry, the charts are extremely important to the Music industry, it's an indication of what the public likes in whole. MikeHunt
Supporting Perez Hilton tho... It seems the way music is sold and consumed is so different from how we all grew up with. It sucks but it's ultimately this is a business to labels and companies always have to adapt to the current markets. Sucks, but you play the game or go independent a la Tinashe or Iggy. phinyls
devastating truth... i hate how music is capitalised to be nothing but a market instead of pure art form Link to comment

Cayden
cd time is dead! it's the new trend now and I think if streaming wouldn't exist physical albums would have had much greater sales as in the years 1990-2000 we wouldn't have been talking about 1 million sales but 10 or even 20 for my part I would continue to buy cds because otherwise the Cd will die in the next few years ps: I'm talking about all the artists Link to comment

Stefani
I mean, it's just common sense these days not to promote an album that's underperforming on streaming in particular. Like, it barely entered the Billboard 200, so of course her label wouldn't have the confidence to invest more time and money into the project that's ultimately a lost cause. I don't have anything against this artist, I'm just looking at things from a business perspective. Link to comment
