We have seen one era of female rap erased, the street battle era which is Where the forgotten pioneers MC Lyte, Queen Latifah and Salt N Pepa has been sadly erased. 

 

Watching the authorized Lifetime biopic..

 

Salt N Pepa had to not only do street battles, but they had to constantly prove that females in hip hop in the 80s was more than just dancers, but can be with the boys and ironically beat them at their own diss game. And earn the respect.
