But it grew on me the more I heard it. And the MV was her best in ages. 

 

One big performance would've helped it a bit. Could've boosted it into the Top 10 for sure.

It was my best first listen since I heard Gimme More premiered on french radio; no words to describe those feelings

I don't think that WB was a hit, the views are a lot, that's for sure but I wanna remind you that Pretty Girls has something like 160M views so...

The only thing that held Toxic from peaking higher was because they didn't release physical CDs and the Hot 100 didn't count digital sales when Toxic was charting. It charted with 0 sales and only airplay. It was a pop radio #1 and Hot 100 Airplay top 10.

In digital sales which weren't counted, Toxic smashed, unlike Work ***** which was relased in a climate where songs were frequently getting 5M+ digital sales.

it's definitely one of her more recent signature songs. everyone knows who you're referring to when mentioning "work *****". germany's most prestigious newspaper (comparable to the NYT) recently quoted her in an article on capitalism and minimum wage. it's iconic.

WB did good 

But it would have done better with help. 

Also if BJ was a good album it would not have helped the album from the lack of radio play. It was a bad choice because radio doesn't like massive edits for pop music. 

I will not be here for the shade of FF singles they held their own with ghost Britney .
