Curious why this song was a hit in Europe but it didn't seem to make an impact in the States. I thought it was one of the best songs off BOMT...

it was a single everywhere except the US I think

the US had FTBOMBH as the fourth single - and I'm glaad we had Born to make you happy in Europe it was everywhere back then and I heard it on the radio all the time

The only place to see music videos at that time was on tv and they didn't air that one here sadly.

I i come from europe so i grew up with that song. I only learned about the bottom of my broken heart video years and years later

BTMYH also had a sick remix but i guess it's only on the singles collection one. you guys gotta hear it  it's acoustic-ish and had more flawless vocals

What?!!! BTMYH wasn't a US single??? But wasn't there promo for the song here? Didn't they release the video here?

It's ok, but I've never loved BTMYH tbh, nor FTBOMBH. The latter was the first video my siblings and I didn't like. We were like this every time it came up on TV: I could've stopped being a fan at that moment but fortunately, Oops came out next and slayed my life forever.

I remember MTV LA at the time made a Top 20 of the worst videos, and of course Broken Heart made the cut

I think other songs should've been singles instead: Soda Pop, Deep in My Heart, Autumn Goodbye, I Will Be There, even E-Mail My Heart could've been more iconic if they wanted a boring song.

 

Tbh, I never understood that "formula" of releasing some hits, and then killing the era with a ballad. I know the eras were really short anyway, because the albums were coming out every year, but I think there was space for more singles.

BTMYH was BIG in Europe. I remember seing the music video like all the time.

After BOMT, Sometimes & Crazy, it was the confirmation of Britney's stardom.

Easily one of my top 10 Britney songs ever.

Its weird, where I'm from BTMYH and FTBOMBH both got heavy rotation back in 1999/2000. I wasn't aware they weren't both released worldwide until a few years later.

MTV LA played that FTBOMBH video non-stop...
