It's always been that way. I think they just wanted to secure both, bc back in the day if you typed briTTney.com or briTTneyspears.com, or brittANYspears.com it'd send you to some weird **** sites with Britney lookalikes with *** all over their faces.

Just to protect young fans, I believe.
