The Jazz Version of “...Baby One More Time”

I speak for myself when I say this, but I really enjoy this cabaret version of “...Baby One More Time,” which I also regard as sort of a glimpse of what she would’ve sounded like in the musical film Chicago. Personally, I think Britney’s voice makes a lovely pairing with the jazzy genres, & I believe she could potentially even pursue this sound (or elements of it) when making music, if/when she ever feels the desire to get back in the studio.

P.S. I know her vocal control was seemingly different back then, but she could always hire a vocal coach & improve her technique today.

I think that  100% she can do a jazzy pop urban album, or more like Amy Winehouse, cuz her voice fits perfectly.

I love it so much! I remember watching the abc special for ITZ and being in love with the way she performed it there! then I watched the tour and was blown away!! she looked and sounded so hot, truly my favorite version of BOMT

This is my FAVORITE version of BB1+X

She has such soul. She is great at Rhythm and Blues/Jazz

She shows so much character with the blind fold and the thank you baby wink at the end. She was the coolest women on the planet 🌎 Still is 🤘😎🤘

I’d love for her to do a jazzy-urban album, sounds different, but in a good way.

—& she didn’t sing live, it was pre-recorded.

Nothing aside from “Everytime” and “Shadow” was live, but I’m only going by the Showtime special in Miami. And if I recall correctly, the latter was dubbed over in re-airings because the original was…well, it was not great.

In her defense, she was dancing her *** off the entire show, so expecting her to sound perfect wasn’t very realistic. Respect to her for still trying to give us some live vocal moments.

It’s not my favorite rendition, but I’m just not big on Jazz music. I did like that she tried to do something different with it, instead of performing the same version of the song for the 1000th time.

Her voice sounded really pretty also, esp the falsetto notes.

Never liked it. If she sang in her deeper register it would have hit hard. Nasal singing doesn't work in that style. I appreciated her switching things up doing jazz but try jazz on another song, not BOMT.

I don’t listen to Jazz very much either, but Britney’s voice on it sounds pleasing to the ears, & gives “something different” from the usual, as you said. 👌🏻

Right, I think “Private Show” is a prime example of how nasal singing can negatively affect the quality of a song. However, I don’t think that’s the case with this one, imo —but I definitely agree that Britney would sound amazing in her deeper register.

I'm not really a big jazz person but it was an interesting renedition of the song. Britney sounded really good. I do think I prefer it over the jazz version of Oops.

I would love it if Britney did a jazz-blues sort of album; I think she's got the voice and tone for it.
