EXCLUSIVE: Britney hints new remix of "Nasty" with Tinashe on Instagram

Recommended Posts

Following up last week rumors about Tinashe and Britney teaming up for the second time for a new remix of Tinashe's brand new hit, the princess of pop did a sassy post on Instagram strongly suggesting the remix is indeed happening.  She started the post shouting "Nasty Girl version !!!" and complement that "it's a school night" and that we should "go to bed early and get those lunches ready because your children need to eat !!!", stating she is aware her fans are starving for new releases. She ends the Instagram post with a sort of enigma: "Word of the week - adjacent !!!", and in case you are not familiar, the word "adjacent" could mean the release might be really close that it could happen any time from now on.

Another curiosity is the fact that she didn't deleted the post or changed the subtitle for 9 hours already, what might suggest a new perspective from the Princess of Pop about her new releases, after dissapointing her fans for being almost completely silent about her past new releases "Hold Me Closer" with Elton John and "Mind Your Business" with her long time producer Will.I.Am.

In case you are not aware, some trustworthy sources gathered rumors happening behind the scenes in the last couple weeks (if you haven't read already, check it out on my last post). Considering this new announcement from Britney herself, some theories were confirmed and some new rumors popped up:

- As said in my previous post, Britney is being charged by her record label for the release of new material. What was being noticed is that RCA was being gentle with Britney Spears for the past couple years due to the worldwide known dispute she was battling against her own father for her freedom. In this process, the contract Britney has with RCA hasn’t been given very few attention and many of its terms regarding the release of new material hasn’t been attended for 8 years already. But as it been noticed by insiders in the executive production in her record label, the directors decided to be completely silent about it to avoid any chances of the RCA brand being inserted in the narrative of the conservator ship. Their actions were not thought only to protected the record label to be involved in her family drama, but as they realize the high marketability the Britney Spears brand still has, and the massive success of her biography “The Woman In Me” only proved their points and remembered all of them what their value the most in their artist: the power she has to convince people to buy her stuff.

- That being said, things have changed when Britney received a massively generous proposal for the rights of her biography for being adapted in a movie, to be directed by Jon Chu. At first, RCA were nowhere to be seen in the negotiations.

- Fans were surprised when Jon Chu were suggested to be the director of the adaptation due to his current project being an adaptation of the modern Brodway classic Wicked starring Ariana Grande.

- Shortly after that, Britney herself announced the adaptation is indeed happening and confirmed the rumors that it would be a musical directed by Jon Chu. In that case, RCA must being involved in the negotiation due to it being the owner of all Britney’s musical catalog.

- Our trustworthy insiders stated that RCA took advantage of Britney’s interest in the adaptation of her book to negotiate new terms into her contract.

- What was already known by her fans still remains: Britney is not working in a new solo album. Instead, RCA is full invested on keeping Britney focused on “The Woman In Me” adaptation, mostly because of the soundtrack of the movies that will open many lucrative possibilities for the record label.

- But that didn’t mean Britney was completely released of her legal obligations surrounding the release of new material under her RCA contract: instead, they offered an extension with no deadlines if Britney agreed to participate on sporadic releases as a featuring artist in the next couple years. Their intent is to start inserting Britney Spears to the new generation so that their interest are convertible in expanding the audience to the adaptation of “The Woman In Me”.

- With that in mind, the unexpected success of Tinashe’s viral hit “Nasty” mainly on TikTok fitted like a glove for what is being planned for Britney Spears for the last trimester of 2024.

- RCA explored many possibilities with “Nasty” track, releasing an EP with 9 different versions of the song, all of them with a different featuring artist (including Chöle and Tyga). Unfortunately, the efforts were not enough to establish the song performance.

- With that context, it was reported Tinashe herself managed to contact Britney and invite to the collaboration.

- The same source reported Britney felt complimented by the invitation because she knew the song and liked it and also because Tinashe marked a very special occasion in Britney’s life with the recording of “Slumber Party” music video, the last video of Britney’s videography, released in 2016.

- In case you don’t remember, Britney met her ex-husband Sam Asghari in the set of “Slumber Party” and although the song didn’t had any commercial impact, Britney got really proud of that video and got a great connection with Tinashe in terms of performance and creative direction. Britney herself stated that the “Glory” project was the spark it took her to feel confident again to fight for her freedom.

About the remix and its video clip:

- Rumored to follow the R&B roots of the song but distinguishing from the original version by adding some rockabilly elements to it.

- All the precaution is being made to avoid the leaking of the song, as the intent is to be released in the same day of the music video.

- Different than the first video clip of “Nasty”, the new one won’t have any outside scenes.

- Britney wasn’t spotted in the studio the music video was recorded, what could indicate she won’t appear in it, similar to what happened in the “Hold Me Closer” music video where both Britney and Elton didn’t participate.

Stay tuned for updates and check it out Nasty by Tinashe:
