Any songs you didn't know were actually covers but only found out years later? Like, 25 years later perhaps...

Well, this thread is just an excuse to say that I was today years old when I found out that Fey's 1998 hit Ni Tú Ni Nadie is actually a cover, my whole life is a lie 

 

The song was originally included in Laura Flores' 1991 album Cuando el Amor Estalla. It has a different style and slightly different lyrics, but it's basically the same. 

 

Did you guys know? @Adriannn  @Brother Shawn @Midnight 

 

I'm still in shock. Am I a flop and I'm the only one that took 25 years to discover this?  Anyways, Laura's version is a bop too

Half the songs on <She's So Unusual> by Cyndi Lauper. Madonna has a few that I wouldn't have recognized without Wikipedia:

• Love Don't Live Here Anymore
• Fever
• American Pie

 

I usually check the credits every time I listen to a new album, though, so covers rarely fall under my radar.

@PokemonSpears I knew about “Ni Tu Ni Nadie” years ago when I read an article about it. I didn’t know about it at the time though. Laura’s version is so good but Fey did the song justice! 
 

There’s also a ballad version of the song but the album version is far superior, in my opinion.

For me, it was Dirty Laundry by Lisa Marie Presley. I didn’t know that was a cover until I listened to the radio today and I heard some guy sing it and the radio DJ said it came out in the 70’s or 80’s and I was like 👁️👄👁️

I didn’t know that Blondie’s “Hanging On the telephone” was a cover until a couple of years back. it’s so iconic that they kinda made it their own track.

I Love Rock n Roll and My Prerogative from Britney. I am not into Rock and I dont know many songs from the 80s or earlier    I remember how I nearly got scalped when someone talked about I Love Rock n Roll and I said "Oh the song from Britney Spears?".
