Why Hasn’t Janelle Monáe Caught on With The General Public?

I’m just curious what others think of Janelle Monáe?

I’ll admit I never really looked into her, but I knew who she was.  I loved “Yoga.”

I spontaneously listed to her Dirty Computer album and was HOOKED.

She puts so much effort and detail into her craft and I have no clue how she gets overlooked so often.

I love her. She is one of few artists who really know how to create a good conceptual album. 

And girl got acting skills too!

For me, when I first saw her she was still in her doo-wop era with that Johnny Bravo hairstyle and I just wasn't feeling it whatsoever. So I never bothered to check out her music. But I also never hear about her. The few times I do, it's in relation to her relationship with Tessa Thompson or when she did Antebellum. I hear more about her as an up and coming actress than I do as a musician, honestly.
