Britney isn't Madonna. Legends who are the queen of pop tend to get away with things the average pop star can't. Not saying Britney is the average pop star, but her confessions moment came and left with Britney Jean. 2013 was when she needed to pull it together and take her career seriously. Since she didn't, people have moved on and are now holding Beyonce to a higher regard than Britney. Sad how the times have changed.
