I think Britney herself did an amazing job, but Silent House Productions dropped the ball in a big way. That performance landed like a THUD in the public consciousness. Everyone's being nice to Britney right now because they want her to do well, but the GP and media aren't going to extend that goodwill forever.

If they had have continued this look right through to the VMA's, think how differently that performance would read...

I get that they were going for artsy with the shadow puppets...but that aesthetic wasn't followed through with her costume or the dancer's costumes. 

Maybe the costume was a last minute change...but it made the difference between the performance hitting the mark, and the performance coming across messy.
