A video details how streaming killed A&R and artist development, as well as social media.

It also touches on why artists don't even care about making music.

She touches how streaming affected that big pay check

Outlast sold close to 600,000 copies of their 2001 album. In the first week they generated close to 9 Million (12 Million dollars today), so in streaming the hottest act would be lucky to make that in their monthly checks, but the reason why they're not getting paid like they did,  well the music is loaned to them, so they have to pay the labels, in Spotify case,  Daniel wants to leave the music side, while pay only services like apple, Amazon and tidal gets multi year licenses,  Spotify has the biggest thorn of doing negotiations every 3 months, that's why he wants to do podcasts, he's not making a profit from the music side anymore. Like the others are.

So Spotify eventually might stop, cos he wants what the others have but refuses to change to paid subscription services only.
