Willow Smith is breaking her silence. In a new interview with Billboard, the 21-year-old "Wait a Minute" musician reflected on her father Will Smith's incident at the 2022 Oscars, where he walked onstage and slapped comedian Chris Rock. Willow told the outlet that the situation “rock me as much as my own internal demons.” “I see my whole family as being human, and I love and accept them for all their humanness,” she explained. “Because of the position that we’re in, our humanness sometimes isn’t accepted, and we’re expected to act in a way that isn’t conducive to a healthy human life and isn’t conducive to being honest.” Her comment marks the first time she's directly addressed the slap, though she seemingly reacted on social media shortly after it happened. Will issued his first statement about the situation a week ago in a video posted to YouTube. In his apology, he told his fans: “I hate when I let people down. So it hurts, it hurts me psychologically and emotionally to know I didn’t live up to people’s image and impression of me."
