I don’t know if she’s finding it difficult to separate from her Glinda character, but I don’t think she’s ever talked like that in her entire career, up until recently. People say that she does it to protect her vocals, but I don’t buy into it. I’ve never seen even the greatest of singers change their speaking voice so drastically, just an observation.

I have noticed that too, it's like her speaking voice is being controlled (by herself) and it's not her natural tone. I'm not gonna say it's fake but it sounds like she's doing it in another tone which I kinda doubt it is her natural one.
