A few things the host has revealed over the years.

This wasn't filmed at the set where they normally shot the show. They actually went to her hotel and built a replica of the set in the lobby and then filmed the audience separately at the tv station when the actual show was filmed (it used to air live on Tuesdays). So the audience was actually watching the clip of the interview in a screen.

And he's also said that she arrived crying to the shooting, because this was right after the infamous "Britney señal" and the media was treating her really bad (nowadays everybody remembers it with humor)

 

On the other hand, the co-host has said how rude Christina Aguilera was when she was the special guest.
