I've heard some echoes of that in the past but then everybody started saying that Aura was supposed to be the lead and follow up to Telephone.

We've known that Gaga was planning a lot of videos for Artpop (some even said it would have been a visual album) and I believe the concept for this video since she wanted to play with pop culture elements during this era.

there was a relatively big Gaga leak from the Artpop era yesterday, w demos and outtakes. supposedly it was the intended director Jonas Akerlund (Paparazzi, Telephone, Hold It Against Me) who came up with this video treatment (prob brainstorming alongside Gaga)
