Britney Spears is allegedly “freaking out” ahead of her highly anticipated 2016 MTV VMAs performance amid her huge comeback with her new album Glory.

A new report by Radar Online is claiming that things may be getting a little too much for Britney as she returns to being one of the most talked about celebrities on the planet after dropping her ninth studio album on August 26.

 

According to the site, Spears is seriously feeling the pressure ahead of her MTV VMAs performance this weekend because she knows she really needs to impress after receiving less than stellar reviews when she last hit the award show stage back in 2007.

 

“Britney has been stressed out so much over Glory dropping at the same time as she is rehearsing for her biggest dance routine yet,” a source told the site of Spears. “She knows she has to kill it at the VMAs.”

Radar Online claimed that Britney is particularly worried that’s she’ll “let down” her diehard fans who have been anticipating her big performance for weeks if she doesn’t give it her all on the VMAs stage this weekend.

 

As Spears’ fans will likely remember, Britney was blasted and ridiculed for her lackluster performance of “Gimme More” almost a decade ago and has not returned to the VMAs stage since.

 

People reported at the time that Britney was left feeling “embarrassed” by her 2007 appearance on the award show and reported that all the hype surrounding her performance, which is not too dissimilar nine years later, is what made her crack under the pressure.

 

“Britney was supposed to wear a matching corset that she opted out of wearing at the last minute,” a source told People. “She was just plain nervous because of all the hype and she’s embarrassed.”

 

But it sounds like despite the mounds of pressure, Spears is determined to make her return to the VMAs stage and Glory’s release a success this time around.

“Britney is determined to turn it all around Sunday night!” Radar Online’s source noted, and it sounds like Spears’ biggest fans are firmly behind her.

 

“Everyone knows that [Glory] is incredible and she has been looking better than ever,” the insider said of Spears. “She is going to slay on Sunday!”

 

But if the pressure really is starting to get to Britney Spears in the whirlwind of her 2016 comeback and pretty grueling Glory promotion schedule, Spears certainly isn’t making it known as she adds even more high-profile events to her growing list of upcoming appearances.
